Technology Advancement

We utilize digital X-rays as one of our most useful diagnostic tools. One of the benefits of digital X-rays is the low level of radiation that is used & a quick method to shoot immediate X-rays right during the procedure. Unlike traditional X-rays that use film, chemicals and higher levels of radiation, the digital X-ray uses a digital sensor to safely and quickly take images of your teeth, exposing you to less radiation. Because the process is digital, dentist can immediately view the high-quality images of your teeth and create a treatment plan that caters to your unique needs.

Digital X-rays are useful in providing a complete image of your teeth and supporting structures. Our team can use the results of your X-ray to plan image oriented oral surgery, a root canal treatment, dental implants and orthodontic treatments.

Dental X-RAY

Dental X-rays have been around for over a century, but digital X-rays have revolutionized the way dentists capture images of your teeth. Digital X-rays use sensors instead of film, which means they produce less radiation, provide a clearer image, and can be viewed instantly on a computer screen. This allows dentists to diagnose problems more easily and efficiently.

CEREC

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. It's a computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) system that allows dentists to design, create, and place dental restorations, such as crowns and veneers, in a single visit. This can save patients time and money, and it also eliminates the need for temporary restorations.

Dental X-Rays

Cone Beam Computerized Tomography

A 3-dimensional image that gives us the most comprehensive information about the tissues in the oral cavity, head, and neck. 3-D imaging is especially useful for our patients who have had a lot of dental work in the past, are experiencing difficult-to-diagnose pain, still have their wisdom teeth, have sleep or sinus issues, or who need implants. We like to have this or the panoramic x-ray once every 2 years.

TYPES OF X-RAYS

There are many types of x-rays, each with a different purpose and recommended frequency. This will vary depending on the patient and the situation, but generally, the ones we like to have for our patients are:

  • Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT):  A 3-dimensional image that gives us the most comprehensive information about the tissues in the oral cavity, head, and neck. 3-D imaging is especially useful for our patients who have had a lot of dental work in the past, are experiencing difficult-to-diagnose pain, still have their wisdom teeth, have sleep or sinus issues, or who need implants. We like to have this or the panoramic x-ray once every 2 years.
  • Panorex-OPG: This image gives us a complete image of all the soft and hard tissue of your oral cavity. It is the primary way a dentist can assess any potential bone loss and the health of your wisdom teeth.
  • Bitewing X-Rays: These are cavity detection x-rays that allow the doctors to see in between your back teeth, one of the most common spots for cavities to develop. We like to get a set of these every year.
  • Intra oral Periapical X-Ray: This single shot gives them a clear view of the tooth from root to tip.
